CELEBRATING HAZELY BEING 1

Beautiful Hazely. I am so lucky to call this adorable little sweetheart my niece! I could photograph her every day and never get bored - if only we lived close enough! She is so filled with personality and the most precious expressions (and she is the spitting image of her mama at this age)!

We were lucky enough to get to spend some time together this summer and had so much fun celebrating her 1st birthday with a special session. We even played with some magical bubbles that made smiley faces in her images - how crazy is that?!

I’m so happy that I was able to document this time in her life. These little babies really grow so fast and there is nothing more meaningful to me than being able to give families these memories!

DENVER BABY’S 1ST BIRTHDAY & CAKE SMASH SESSION

It’s been a while since I’ve photographed a session that meant this much to me. Kristy has been one of my best friends for more than 30 years since we met in the 6th grade. We’ve done life together and have been through so much more than I could ever write about - really though, some things we said we’d take to the grave ;). She has been a part of almost every middle school and high school memory I can think of and even though we didn’t go away to the same college together or even end up living in the same state, we’ve stayed close and she has become part of my family. When something really wonderful happens (or when something really awful happens) she will forever be one of the first people I call and I’m so grateful to have someone as amazing as her that is always there for me.

When she let me know that she was adopting a baby boy, I could have burst from excitement. I’ve never been so happy to see one of my friends become a mom. Unfortunately, we were in the middle of the pandemic and I had to watch her become a first time mom and see Maddox growing up through Zoom calls and text messages from half way across the country. So when the opportunity for us to be together again finally became a reality, I wanted to make his 1st birthday portrait session extra special with my very first cake smash! Kristy baked the cutest (and most delicious) little cake and I planned a neutral, minimal set up that would keep the focus on Maddox and his precious expressions.

I loved creating these images so much that I’ve decided to make 1st birthday cake smash sessions a regular offering for all of my sweet clients! These sessions include a custom bakery made cake just like the one seen here and access to my baby wardrobe collection including the gorgeous organic chunky sweater that Maddox is wearing from The Simple Folk!

NATURAL NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY & BABY LED POSING

If you’re reading this, chances are you are researching newborn photographers and hoping to learn more about your options for when your new baby is born. There are many different types of newborn photography and today I’d love to share with you why I specialize in natural newborn photography & baby led posing. I hope you’ll walk away after reading this with all the information you need to decide if this is the right type of session for your family.

For me, natural newborn photography allows me to create simple, beautiful images by keeping backgrounds clean and the focus on your sweet babe in my gorgeous, natural light studio. I love minimalistic imagery and avoid the use of excessive props so your sessions don’t feel unnatural or dated. I even provide all of the perfect little clothing items and blankets for your session so your final images are a perfect representation of the style I’m known for.

Natural newborn photography means allowing parents to snuggle and hold baby in a way that you would in real life. Nothing is forced or awkward. It’s real, organic and so sweet. When it comes time for me to photography your baby alone, I lay them down and allow them to curl and roll themselves into a position that they feel comfortable in. While I may make slight adjustments to ensure the perfect composition and a perfect, pretty image, the pose is led by the baby and what makes them happy. The results are natural, relaxed images that capture all the sweet details of your newborn.

TIMELESS & CLASSIC IMAGES

I’m committed to capturing your precious babies in a way that is timeless and honors them as they are on the day of our session. I want to document the beautiful connection that you have with them and all the sweet details that change so quickly. My goal is to create pure and emotive newborn images that will be classic and hold their own throughout the generations. Avoiding the use of excessive props, keeping the color pallet light and neutral and utilizing baby led posing allows me to achieve all of this!

STRESS FREE & FUN

I’ve tried both lifestyle and posed newborn sessions in the past and have found that a natural newborn session in my studio is the least stressful and most fun for my clients. You don’t have to worry about cleaning up your house or shopping for newborn outfits. You won’t spend tons of extra time waiting to get your baby completely asleep and into a variety of intricate poses either. Taking natural newborn portraits with your tiny baby and watching while I photograph all their adorable details is truly fun!

SAFE FOR BABY

I admit it. I’m a bit of a safety nut. Nothing matters more to me than the safety of your family. While there are many different posed baby session poses that can hurt your baby if not done properly by a trained professional, baby led posing takes that worry off the table. I will never put your baby in a position that isn’t completely safe and comfortable for them.

PERFECT FOR INCLUDING FAMILY

These sessions are perfect for incorporating images with your whole family in a way that looks authentic and natural. Parents and siblings are not only welcome, but encouraged to participate in your session! We are documenting some amazing moments in your life and you are all a very important part of that!

SESSIONS LAST ABOUT 2 HOURS

While some posed newborn sessions can last up to 4 or more hours, my newborn sessions are much faster. Because your little one doesn’t need to be completely asleep for every image (in fact, I love when I get some images when they’re awake too), sessions don’t take as much time and you end up with a larger gallery of finished images.
